Reducing Unemployment, Poverty Level: DD Hold Seminars and Training Classes.

SEMARANG, INDONESIA – The Institute of Self-Sufficiency (a.k.a. IK), a Dompet Dhuafa organisation which exists to reduce unemployment, now in Semarang, Central Java. IK Central Java branch was inaugurated on Monday, (29/4) at the auditorium RRI Semarang.

“The presence of IK in the region Jateng obviously is important. We can empower the young and the unemployed, which number is still very high in Central Java, “said Fadillah Rachman, Head of Dompet Dhuafa branch of Central Java.

Fadil explained, IK Central Java’s preliminary activity is currently very basic; mobile phones technician training class. There are currently 20 trainees enrolled in the first batch of the class.

“In the near future we will be holding IT and Cookery classes,” Fadil added.

In addition to empowering and motivating the trainees to become entrepreneurs who are independent and professional, IK has also planned the classes in a comprehensive manner.

“The training is also aimed to provide understanding in organizing their works, so that later on, they will be more productive and can grow,” said Fadil

In the same occasion, an entrepreneurial seminar was also held. It was titled “Self-Sufficient and Competitive with Entrepreneurship”. A local seminar speaker Saptuari Sugiharto was the main speaker. A total of 300 audience was reported to have attended the seminar.

The presence of IK in Central Java is a form of ‘ikhtiar’ from Dompet Dhuafa to reduce poverty in the region. IK Central Java office is located in Jalan Abdul Rahman Saleh, Block D 199, West Semarang, Jateng. (med/GIE/ant)
