Oklahoma Tornado: Indonesian Communities of the World Help via Dompet Dhuafa

OKLAHOMA, USA – Coinciding with President Barack Obama’s visit to Moore, Oklahoma, United States, USA, Dompet Dhuafa along with Indonesian Diaspora organisations in the USA distributed aid to victims of Tornado EF5 which ravaged the city recently.

Dompet Dhuafa along with organisations such as the Indonesian Diaspora Network (IDN), the IDF, and the Indonesian Relief USA distributed the aid to the Oklahoma Tornado victims which consist of basic needs, especially for the kids’ needs, as many of the victims are children.

“We are distributing food, baby needs such as diapers and baby wipes, snacks, and cleaning supplies to some shelters and aid collection posts for the tornado victims,” said Haryo Mojopahit, Area Development Manager Dompet Dhuafa USA on Monday (27/5) in the United States.

“It was a donation that was collected by the Indonesian community in the United States and other parts of the world. Although the amount is not large, this just shows the solidarity of Indonesians towards other countries, especially the United States. During the Aceh tsunami, many years ago, many countries are helping Indonesia. As a big country, Indonesia should also help other countries affected by disasters such as this “added Haryo.

Indonesia’s aid mission is divided into three waves. The first, is to provide assistance to the Indonesian families who fell victims of the tornado in Oklahoma. Secondly, is to provide assistance to various refugees. Lastly, is provide general assistance (similar to the second mission) with Al Busyra Basnur, the Consulate General of Indonesia (Consulate) in Houston.
